    My temporary solution was to change the meter from 4/4 to 2/4, halve the length of all the notes in that bar, and halve the tempo from 90 to 45. Gave the right sound at least...

    Something I found that helped:

    I write a half-rest and select it, and then I press "3" (shortcut for a triplet, I think it's the default.) Then it gives me a triplet over 2 beats. I also found using a half-note works. Say the triplet starts on an A, then I'd put in an A half-note, select it, and press "3". This makes the first note of the triplet an A and the others are rests until you fill them in. Hope this helps!

     

    PS: If you use this with a dotted half-note, it'll say something along the lines of "this can already be split into three without a triplet" since you can use quarter-notes. Same for anything else that can be split evenly, eg. a quarter-note into 4.

    Try adding a half note first then click on "3" to make it a triplet worth 2 beats. This should fix it.
