Slash marks without stems

Correct me if I'm wrong, but currently slash marks have a stem if in 6 (or possibly greater) beats/bar. Just need plain old slash marks, like in 4/4. The stems imply possible percussion hits or articulated beats. Can't seem to find a workaraound.
