Portamento
Noteflight desperately needs the ability to produce portamento. This is an essential aspect of orchestral string technique, sliding continuously through microtones. Noteflight currently has something it calls "glissando", but this just produces a clumsy and fairly useless chromatic scale passage. When a violinist sees "gliss." on the pages, he does NOT play a chromatic scale; he slides continuously. Moreover, violinists (and violists and cellists) are constantly deliberately glissing for expressive purposes even when the written music doesn't direct them to. This is part of the natural technique and sound of these instruments.

I second Jake's petition. We need to be able to differentiate between gliss. and port. For string players, a simple line that joins two notes isn't clear enough. I also think it would very nice to have the option to move the gliss & port line from both sides (just like the slur line works right now) - in case the gliss/port line intercepts another note (such as an A(3)) making the note almost indistinguishable. Thank you very much.
