A way to message people individually

There is already a message section on the home page. I really need a way to communicate with other composers. At least 50 times I needed to communicate with the composer individually and I had to "@" them in the comments section. That person WILL NOT see it unless they are following you. If I could simply go to "messages" and message someone it would make things so much easier on everyone. Communication is important.
