Elision Slurs in Lyrics
CompletedI haven't been able to find a way to type in elision slurs in lyrics. In Spanish, for instance, if a word ends with a vowel sound and the next word begins with a vowel sound, they would be sung as a single syllable under the same note. Currently, Noteflight is not allowing this and is forcing the second syllable on to the next note. It would be great to have this feature!

Thank you,
Anna

Hi All!
Sorry to keep you waiting for so long but I'm pleased to announce that this feature has been added to Noteflight. You can create an elision slur via the tilde character `~`.
Let us know what you think!

I frequently just use the + between text to leave a space to seperate.
But it looks better when I copy an Underline character
into the clipboard with Ctrl + c, then position the cursor,
and paste while editing the text with Ctrl + v (I use linux).
Fancier but dangerous is to copy the unicode character:
‿ undertie Codepoint (hexadecimal): 0x203F Codepoint (decimal): 8255
and paste it at the desired point. But the font may give
a box if it does not support this character.

SO! Noteflight supports using the "+" to put multiple syllables on one notes, but it (so far) hasn't shown us a way to put the elision slur in the lyrics. I *think* I have found a soluition. The online IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) site from typeit.org hasa a full IPA keyboard with all of the phonetic symbols, including the slur, and has copy-paste capability. I pasted the slur into my score and then used the + to complete my elision. I haven't printed it yet, but it looks good on the monitor.
Fingers crossed
