Search by Student from the main page

My students create original compositions that are not created from a template. I would LOVE to be able to search by name on the main page where it says "Search titles, artists, composers...".  

It seems like it would work to just type a student's name right there, but it doesn't. I have to click on Classes, select their class, members, and then the search feature works. 

I teach at a virtual school and often have over 100 students in a single section and I would love to have a few clicks by searching for individual students from the homepage.
